Who could imagine that playing golf, was invented by the Romans and improved by the Scots in the XV century, would become one of the main attractions of Mallorca.
Handicap, green, green fee, hole, caddie, pitch & pult are some of the words that belong to the vocabulary of this sport.
Furthermore, when people are practising golf, they are following co-habitation rules, walking several kms (except if they rent a buggy) and improving their concentration amongst other things.
To play golf there are no age restrictions. I call this a healthy habit!
Fortunately you will find more than 20 golf courses distributed across all of Mallorca.
Good weather during 300 days in the year, adequate facilities, fantastic views over the Tramuntana Mountain Range, World Patrimony since 2011 and the Mediterranean Sea make Mallorca an attractive place to play golf. Some golf courses were designed by experts such as Robert Trent Jones, Thomas Himmel, José Gancedo for example.
Those professionals decided to preserve old buildings, olive trees, fig trees, palm trees, carobs and the tradicional and centenary dry walls, one of the beautiful “faces” of Mallorca.

By the way, Son Vida Golf is the oldest golf course of Mallorca that was inaugurated in 1964. The newest golf course is Golf Son Quint inaugurated in 2007.
