The five best selfies spots in Mallorca

Did you know that Spain is the leading country in ‘selfies’ in Europe?

According to a recently published survey, each Spanish citizen produced 728 selfies during 2019. Italians, germans and the French follow closely in this ranking.

If you calculate this operation you will find: 728 selfies ÷ 12 months: 60 selfies ÷ 30 days: 2 selfies per day.

Additionaly, also, Spanish people enjoy uploading their pictures without filters to seem more natural and genuine. The tablets are used but the smartphones are the favorite tool when people are immortalizing selfies with friends, family or alone. There are in Spain several campaigns in support of the responsible use of mobile phones to avoid accidents. The main aim is to enjoy the moment and the place of your selfie. In one hand, experts compare selfies with narcissism or being in the limelight. In my opinion is very difficult to be on the social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Nowadays letters and postcards have been substituted by the social networks. This change happened quite recently.

Beautiful places, natural environments, attractive cities and charming villages, as well as great weather, incredible beaches and delicious food,  make of Mallorca an “Instagramers Paradise”. More than 14 million tourists were able to enjoy Mallorca during 2018.

It sure was worth it!

About the weather, almost year round you can enjoy this Island with sun including the months of December, January and February when it is snowing and raining in the rest of Europe.

On the other hand, in the lower season you will find the Island empty, customer services are fast in bars, restaurants and businesses. Prices in the hotels are more reasonable. Therefore, I’m sure that you’ll have reasons to include Mallorca in your next holiday. I will provide locations for the best 5 selfie spots on the Island.

Cheers!

Prepare your mobile phone and lets go:

Es Colomer - It is a lookout situated in Pollença and it is more than 200 meters above sea level. To arrive there you will go from Pollença - Port to Hotel Formentor. It is located on the the left side of the road. In the high season, I mean, from May to September, it is very difficult to find parking. Then, the best suggestion is to go very early to avoid traffic jam or you will find no spaces available in the car park.

Pay attention because the road is wide and old. Landscapes and fantastic places are accessible to you.

I always contemplate the small island that is situated in front of this place called Es Colomer. It means dove in mallorcan language and gives it its namesake. Don’t worry because you will be able to enjoy the end of the Tramuntana Mountain Range, World Patrimony since 2011.

Are you imagining how many likes that your friends will give you?

Here’s the Googlemaps location:

Praia de Formentor - Formentor’s Beach - in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful and best maintained beaches of Mallorca. It is located on the island’s most northeastern part and about 10 minutes by car from Es Colomer. Take advantage to walk along the edge of this paradise, to swim, to sunbathe and to make lots of selfies next to the Hotel Formentor. This symbolic hotel is a five star hotel and was inaugurated with great pomp in 1929.

Agatha Christie, Charles Chaplin, Gracie Kelly, Raniero de Monaco were guests here amongst other famous persons. My tip to your perfect selfie there: take a picture from the beach and with its beautiful garden in your background.

Unforgetable!

Make a note of it in your calendar.

Another tip: you can take a coffee or have lunch in the hotel’s cafeteria. It is near to the beach. There you will find showers and restrooms. There is an indoor and out outdoor picnic area. There are trees and a shadow zone. It is an idilic place. The Hotel Formentor has a car park next to it. Last year there was a 15E fee.

If you decide to visit Palma de Mallorca take advantage to follow with your perfect selfies:

Bellver Castle - this Castle is located inside of a huge forest with a fantastic view over Palma’s bay. If you want to visit it - tickets cost 4E - I suggest you go up to the last floor where you will find a 360 degrees view of the city of Palma. Take advantage, prepare your mobile phone and indulge yourself!

Parc de la Mar or Parc of the Seas - I always go with with my guests to this area. It is located over the Cathedral. More than 50.000 square meters of land plot. To enjoy this moment you must go down the staircase until the end of it and then you can take pictures from the Almudaina’s Palace and the Cathedral at the same time. I’m sure that your photos will be gorgeous. Pay attention because you will find interesting sculptures along the Parc of the Seas, a mural dedicated to Joan Miró, the famous Catalan artist and an artificial lake formed by the water from the Mediterranean Sea.

Another tip: if you want to take pictures in a palm trees area you will find the opportunity as well. Its very worths it!

Visit Palma’s Golden Mile. It is 5 minutes walking from the Parc of the Seas. It is situated surrounding the Paseo des Born next to Plaza de La Reina. There your selfie will have charm and it will be treasured. You will stay next to lordly mallorcan houses, luxury shops such as Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara, Hugo Boss…don’t waste your time. Strike a pose and take advantage of everything.

I’m sure that your followers will enjoy this moment and they will increase their likes.

We showed at the beginning of this blog a picture from a crowed place in Rio de Janeiro….don’t worry because you'll find selfies spots available to take pictures in Mallorca! We were joking….
